The Two-Row Jeep Flagship

2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee for Sale in Austin

The 2026 Grand Cherokee starts at $38,920 and, properly equipped with a conventional hitch, tows up to 6,200 lbs, with a choice of a 293-horsepower V6 or the new 324-horsepower Hurricane turbo depending on the trim. It seats five, holds 70.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, and fits a Hill Country Galleria parking bay. Covert CDJR Bee Cave stocks the lineup from Laredo to Summit.

The two-row Grand Cherokee is the one most buyers here actually want. It is the Jeep that carries five people in comfort, pulls a real trailer up out of a lake basin, and still threads the parking structure at the Hill Country Galleria on a Saturday. At 193.5 inches long on a 116.7-inch wheelbase, with a 38.0-foot turning circle, it is sized for the way this side of town is actually built.

The full 2026 lineup is sold and serviced at Covert CDJR Bee Cave. This page covers what changed for 2026, the two engines and how four-wheel drive is offered, the chassis hardware underneath, pricing and packages, and which build fits you. Where a spec is shared with the three-row Grand Cherokee L, we link the deeper guide rather than repeat it here.

What the 2026 Grand Cherokee Adds This Year

2026 is a substantial year for the Grand Cherokee. The headline is a new engine: the 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo, making 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft, now standard from the Laredo Altitude up. It replaces the V6 on those upper trims and is both stronger and more efficient than the engine it displaces. It pairs with a new Gen IV eight-speed automatic. Jeep also refreshed the exterior with a new grille, new fascias and redesigned headlamps, redesigned the dashboard, and moved to a 12.3-inch Uconnect touchscreen from the Laredo Altitude on up. A Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System is newly available, and an 85th Anniversary Edition joins the lineup.

Two things worth knowing before you shop. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 is not new; it has powered the Grand Cherokee since 2011 and remains the standard engine on the Laredo and Laredo X. And the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid is discontinued for 2026, so the 2026 lineup is the V6 and the Hurricane turbo only. Full detail on both engines lives on the engines and performance guide.

2026 Grand Cherokee Engine and Drivetrain

The trim determines the engine. This is the single most common point of confusion on this model, so it is worth stating plainly: you do not pick the engine separately from the trim.

3.6L Pentastar V6 — standard on Laredo and Laredo X

293 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 260 lb-ft, on regular 87 octane, through an eight-speed automatic. EPA-estimated 19 MPG city / 26 MPG highway / 22 MPG combined, and for 2026 that rating holds whether you take rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Ratings are published at fueleconomy.gov.

2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo — standard from Laredo Altitude up

324 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 332 lb-ft from 3,000 to 4,500 rpm, standard on the Laredo Altitude, Limited, 85th Anniversary Edition, Limited Reserve and Summit. EPA-estimated 21 MPG city / 27 MPG highway / 23 MPG combined in rear-wheel drive, and 20 / 25 / 22 with four-wheel drive. It also runs on regular 87 octane; Jeep recommends 91 or higher for optimal turbo performance in hot weather or while towing, but does not require it. That distinction matters in a market that spends July above 100 degrees with a trailer on the back.

Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Laredo, Laredo X, Laredo Altitude and Limited, with four-wheel drive a $2,000 option on those four. The Limited Reserve and Summit are four-wheel drive as standard.

Grand Cherokee Chassis and Hardware

Underneath, the Grand Cherokee runs Quadra-Trac I and available Quadra-Drive II four-wheel-drive systems, the latter with a rear electronic limited-slip differential. Selec-Terrain gives five modes: Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow and Mud/Sand. Quadra-Lift air suspension is available and raises the body for clearance, then drops it at highway speed. Standard ground clearance is 8.4 inches. The turning circle is 38.0 feet and the fuel tank holds 23.0 gallons.

Properly equipped with a conventional hitch, the Grand Cherokee tows up to 6,200 lbs with either engine. Payload is 1,280 pounds on a Laredo 4×2 and 1,240 pounds once you add four-wheel drive, against a 6,050-pound GVWR. Flash Flood Alley is not a brochure line here; the Balcones Escarpment makes low-water crossings west of RM 620 a genuine seasonal reality, and ground clearance plus a real four-wheel-drive system is why people in this corridor buy this vehicle instead of a crossover.

2026 Grand Cherokee Pricing and Packages

The Grand Cherokee opens from $38,920 for the Laredo 4×2 and runs to about $60,600 for the Summit, both excluding destination. Every figure below is Jeep’s own Base Price and excludes the $1,995 destination charge, plus tax, title and registration.

Trim Engine Base Price (excl. destination)
Laredo 4×2 3.6L V6 $38,920
Laredo 4×4 3.6L V6 $40,920
Laredo X 4×2 3.6L V6 $41,415
Limited 4×2 2.0L Hurricane Turbo $44,320
Laredo Altitude 4×2 2.0L Hurricane Turbo $44,360
Limited Reserve 4×4 2.0L Hurricane Turbo $51,915
Summit 4×4 2.0L Hurricane Turbo $60,600

Four-wheel drive adds $2,000 on the Laredo, Laredo X, Laredo Altitude and Limited. The 85th Anniversary Edition is part of the 2026 lineup; ask us for current pricing and availability on that one, since it is the newest addition to the range. MSRP excludes destination, taxes, title and registration fees; see our live inventory for current pricing. Where the Grand Cherokee Sits in the Lineup

The two-row Grand Cherokee is the volume choice: five seats, the shortest body in the family, and the lowest entry price. One step up in size is the Grand Cherokee L, which stretches to 204.9 inches for a genuine third row and seating for up to seven, and costs $2,000 more on every shared trim. Above the family entirely sits the body-on-frame Grand Wagoneer, the eight-seat flagship for buyers who need maximum room and five-figure towing. If you are weighing two rows against three, the Grand Cherokee vs Grand Cherokee L comparison is the fastest way to settle it.

The Laredo and Laredo X get the 3.6L Pentastar V6 at 293 horsepower. The Laredo Altitude, Limited, 85th Anniversary Edition, Limited Reserve and Summit get the 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo at 324 horsepower. The trim decides the engine; it is not a separate choice.

Jeep also refreshed the grille, fascias and headlamps, redesigned the dashboard, moved to a 12.3-inch Uconnect touchscreen from the Altitude up, added an available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System, and introduced an 85th Anniversary Edition.
